Sort the hardware, then the app
Televisions from Sony, TCL, Hisense or Philips already carry Android inside. Buying a separate box? A Chromecast with Google TV, or an Nvidia Shield if the budget stretches, is money well spent — the $25 marketplace special is not. With that fixed, reach for TiViMate to get the guide or Smarters for the gentler start.
Find the Play Store
Look along the home row for it, or dig under Apps if you are on Google TV. Make sure a Google account is actually signed in beforehand — the store will let you browse without one and only trip you up at the moment of installing.
Install the player
Search for either IPTV Smarters Pro or TiViMate IPTV Player. On a television, as opposed to a tablet, TiViMate earns the nod: that grid guide is the entire point of it, and nothing else comes close for live sport.
Hand over the Xtream login
TiViMate steps you through Add playlist then Xtream Codes login; Smarters calls it Login with Xtream Codes API. Each wants the same server URL, username and password, and each fetches the channel list and the guide for you.
Tidy it, then verify
